I'd call that a long and full life. He taught the Trig & Advanced Math class that a bunch of us took, and he had a blend of great knowledge and good humor (his relationship with pi was a loving and musical one) that engaged us more deeply than simple pedantry. By and large, looking back, we were blessed by extraordinary teachers who coaxed (sometimes dragged) us forward to greater wisdom. Right time, right place. Lucky us.
