John's Latest Interactions
Marcia and I sat next to each other in either a civics or history class. We became friends, and she shared that she would love to become a cheerleader but didn't know enought people because she wasn't popular enough. I told her it shouldn't matter, because if she ran a good campaign she would have a good shot. Marcia's was my first sucessful campaign and she became our Head Cheerleader. I think it was that involvement and experience which led to she, Penny, and Joan becoming such good friends.
During the football season of 1960 I asked Marcia about not having a "Don" mascot. I shared with her an idea that I had involving John Bomberger and I. She thought it was stellar. And so began the capers of "Don" De Groot & side-kick "Pancho" Bomberger (with Miss Worthing's blessing). With me pulling our little red wagon, and "Pancho" hanging on, we wrecked havoc with opposing bands - until Alex Winchester told us to knock-it-off.
Marcia was an unassuming, sincere, and genuine friend. I appreciate the bio Gary Miller included as her obit. I truly enjoyed being caught-up with Marcia's milestone life events. Rest gently Marcia.
What a great guy, he will be sorely missed. Some may even remember the meaning of "no overlap" (especially Larry Somerton). But regardless, Greg's own words in terms of who he was shouldn't be missed. RIP Greg! I'll miss you, and will always remember who you were.

Good luck on that Bob! I'm sure you'll come out better than ever. And, on another topic, a big thanks for all your time & energy on behalf of our class.
