Pete was my best friend. The summer before we both began at Acalanes, we played chess together. We also climbed rock faces. He was one of the Mountain Men, all of us climbers in the class of 61 except for Bob Stege (class of 60) and Paul Thornton (class of 62).
Pete was a deep thinker. He read Martin Heidegger's book, "Being and Time" many, many times. He is probably still reading it or perhaps disputing with Heidegger himself whereever he's ended up. Go well, friend!
